??? (Upper Left of Map)
The Council Chamber
In order to get into the Council Chamber, you'll need a Routing Map, which you won't get until you've solved almost all of the other puzzles.
Gathering It Together
The red word is "clear"; that is, it's easy to deduce from the story.
The green word is "deep"; that is, you may need to think about the story to figure it out.
The blue word is "entangled"; that is, it involves some sort of wordplay with letters.
Here is the solution:
Sorting It Out
In order to pass this section, you have to rearrange the ten characters in the correct order, ending up with "yourself" outside. Notice the banners with the icons of the stories? You should arrange the "roles" of the characters with the appropriate stories. Every two characters under a banner represent opposite approaches to the five roles foretold in the story. So, if you match characters with opposite personalities, it might help.
Here is the solution:
Gatekeeper
Legava opened a lot of gates for you (seemingly unintentionally) and watches over you meticulously. Legava is based loosely on Legba; his name is intended to have connotations of "legal" and "law."
Mazer tells you many stories and acts a little insane, but he seems to have your best interests at heart and opens your horizons. He is based on Carrefour; the word literally means "crossroads."
Provider
Yjerle is a bit "senile," but she gave you some memory storage. She seems the kindly but forgetful mother type.
Rosshi is a "spoiled brat." She illustrates the other extreme of the feminine stereotype. Both characters are based on Erzulie; Rosshi ("red-eye") based on the Erzulie Ge Rouge facet.
Librarian
Emolpho, energetic and outgoing, works in the Data Stream, as does...
Ift, Emolpho's "servant," the silent and reserved guy. Ift is based on Damballah; the origins of both names are given when you finish the game.
Craftsman
Ogham works in the Workshop, and is rather meticulous. He's based on Ogou and also "ogham," a form of runic writing.
Verlm also tries to get things done -- in a different fashion, of course. He's a combination of "vermin" and "worm."
Reclaimer
Barhinn tried to remove nodes to solve the "problems."
Weykent is known as "the destroyer," and erased your memory block once. The pair are based on Baron Samedi, giving connotations like "barren," "weekend," "weakened..."
